Nederland, TX…Industrial Safety Training Council recognized forty-nine contractor companies for outstanding safety achievements for work performed in the Gulf Coast area during the calendar year 2003. The awards presentation took place during the annual Safety Awards Banquet on May 25 at the Holiday Inn Atrium Plaza.

ISTC Chairman of the Board Bob Townsend made the presentations to fifty-three contractor members. A total of one hundred and three awards were presented for years worked, hours worked, incidence rate reduction and sustained performance of “zero” incidence rate.

ISTC’s most prestigious award, the Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award was presented to Triple “S” Industrial Corporation. Triple “S” Industrial Corporation, with locations in Lumberton and Baytown, has been in business for 14 years. Their services include plant maintenance, turnarounds and new construction. Triple “S” also offers construction services for mechanical, electrical, pole line, civil, instrumentation and fabrication. Their pipe and vessel fabrication shop is an extension of an already successful general industrial contractor and is a complete pipe and vessel fabrication shop with shop supervision combined experience of over 65 years. Triple “S” employs 750 people in the Gulf Coast area. Finalists in the Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award category were ENGlobal Construction Resources, ENGlobal Engineering, Inc., Matrix Engineering, Ltd., Mundy Maintenance Services and Operations, Performance Blasting & Coating.

The presentation of the ISTC safety awards is part of a comprehensive safety awards program, which the Association’s Curriculum & Program Committee has developed to promote safety through training in the contractor industry and to publicly recognize the excellent record of safety these contractors have achieved.
